Palm Pre to Launch on Sprint June 6

palmpre.pngSprint announced today that the Palm Pre will be available nationwide in Sprint stores, as well as at Best Buy, Radio Shack, and select Wal-Mart stores on June 6. The webOS-based phone will retail for $200 (after a $100 rebate) and require a two-year service contract, along with an Everything Data plan for home users, a Simply Everything plan, or a Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan.

The Pre, named the “Most Anticipated Gadget of 2009” by Engadget, will provide access to exclusive content on the Sprint Now Network, including Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile Live. More details about Sprint’s service plans and retail channels can be found at Sprint’s website.

The company also plans to ship its unique Touchstone dock at the same time for $70. The inductive charger powers the Pre without cables and reacts to whether or not it’s placed on the dock; removing a ringing Pre from the Touchstone answers the call, and putting an in-call Pre on the dock switches to the speakerphone.
