Days after announcing the release of the SPA-1000, Sipura Technology announced the SPA-3000, a powerful addition to its arsenal of telephone adators, during the Voice Over Net (VON) conference in Santa Clara, CA.

The 3000, which the company says will be available in May, will include the features of the highly successful SPA-2000 analog telephone adaptor and adds an FXO interface.

The new adaptor allows the user to bridge the two connections without the need for an additional adapter or a server

"This unit allows the end user to authenticate callers by using a combination of caller-ID and a pin," said Jan Frandianto, Sipura President and CEO, adding that the unit will allow specific settings and dial plans based on who is calling.

The inclusion of an FXO port on an external telephone adaptor is good news for users of the Asterisk open source PBX system who now must rely on internal computer interface cards to integrate PSTN service with the system.

The SPA-3000 has the same form factor as the SPA-1000 and the SPA-2000, but is housed in a dark blue shell.

Sipura says the retail price of the unit will be $169.

The Sipura SPA-3000 will be avaialble on a pre-sale basis for interested testers from the Voxilla Store in April.
