Subject: Linksys SPA2102-AU/Belkin N1 Vision Modem compatability
Question Type: VoIP Hardware/Software
I am running Linksys SPA2102-AU off a Belkin N1 Vision Modem to use TPG VoIP. SPA2102 only seems to work when Belkin is in Modem-only mode and I can only make outbound calls. Incoming calls do not reach my phone?
In modem only mode I cannot access web configuration for Belkin and :. need to reset it to access config menu.
Now that your modem has the router portion disabled, your computer is most likely using a public IP address instead of an internal address. Often times, you must configure your computer with a static IP address that matches the internal IP address the modem/router is expecting you to connect to it at. This option is more advanced, and if you are not familiar with how to setup your computer on a static IP, then you most likely need to contact Belkin’s technical support to guide you through the process.
If you are familiar with this process, it appears that this modem/router combo usually uses 192.168.2.1 as its own IP. Meaning you need to configure your computer to use an IP such as 192.168.2.200, and then try to connect to the Belkin’s web interface at its normal location of http://192.168.2.1 . Please be aware that this is only a possible way that you may be able to connect. There is no harm in attempting this method, but ultimately Belkin will be more able to advise about this situation.
If this does not work, another option you can most likely explore is to use the “reset” button on the back of the modem/router combo. Below are instructions right from their documentation. However, please be aware you will be resetting all customer configuration options, and the device will be as if you just took it out of the box.
If you do not feel comfortable with either of these options, you will want to contact Belkin’s technical support at 1800-223-5546.
The “Reset” button is used in rare cases when the N1 Vision may function improperly. Resetting the N1 Vision will restore the N1 Vision’s normal operation while maintaining the programmed settings. You can also restore the factory default settings by using the “Reset” button. Use the restore option in instances
where you may have forgotten your custom password.
i. Resetting the N1 Vision
Push and release the “Reset” button. The lights on the N1 Vision will momentarily flash. The “Power/Ready” light will begin to blink. When the “Power/Ready” light becomes solid again, the reset is complete.
ii. Restoring the Factory Defaults
Press and hold the “Reset” button for at least 10 seconds, then release it. The lights on the N1 Vision will momentarily flash. The “Power/Ready” light will begin to blink. When the “Power/Ready” light becomes solid again, the restore is complete.
