Ifbyphone, a leading provider of business-grade telephone automation services, will launch a new, “cloud”-based Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking service on Tuesday, giving all types of service providers the opportunity to provide advanced telephony applications to their customers for a lower cost than ever before.
All carriers, CLECs, ILECs, hosted PBX companies, and cable multi-system operators (MSOs) with softswitches in their architecture will be able to expand service offerings to include features such as full-function IVR, Call Queuing, Call Tracking and “Find Me” Call Forwarding, and complete applications such as Voice Broadcasting, Store Locator, and Lead Distributor.
Cloud-based SIP trunking will give carriers access to Ifbyphone’s automated services, routing certain calls to “smart ports” on the Ifbyphone platform, while retaining control of all-important origination and termination authority that is key to their revenue model.
“Carriers wanting to offer advanced services have previously faced a real investment dilemma: either make a six-figure investment gamble on hardware and software and hope that customers pay for the new features, or don’t, and hope you don’t lose customers to competitors,” said Irv Shapiro, Ifbyphone’s CEO.
To illustrate what Ifbyphone’s SIP trunking makes possible, say a small business customer of a CLEC wants an IVR for their business. They will be able sign up for that service through the CLEC and configure the IVR using Ifbyphone’s white-labeled web-based GUI.
Inbound calls to that small business would then get routed to Ifbyphone for IVR call handling. In this example, a caller might say “agent” to reach the CLEC’s customer service representative; Ifbyphone would apply routing logic to the call, passing it back to the carrier for termination.
Carrier benefits of the service, according to Ifbyphone, include:
– Dramatically lower up-front investment, in both capital and provisioning effort versus typical offerings from softswitch vendors
– Access to complete Ifbyphone applications such as Voice Broadcasting, Store Locator and Lead Distributor
– Easy configuration of custom solutions for carriers’ end users
– Flexible pricing and capacity options for intelligent call-handling from Ifbyphone
In addition, carriers retain full control of origination and termination, customer management, as well as pricing and marketing to their end users.
“Ifbyphone is changing the game,” says Shapiro. “Carriers make a far lower investment commitment, get access to industry-leading features, and keep their customers happy by continuing to serve them directly. For CLECs that want to compete on services and features, this will radically change the competitive dynamics.”
