John Chambers must think there are a few hundred million Steven Spielberg wannabes out there. Why, otherwise, would Cisco spend $500 million to buy San Francisco-based gadget maker Pure Digital?
Yes, Pure Digital is the company behind a gadget with recent buzz in the consumer market, Flip video cameras. And Chambers indicated in January his company was looking to buy consumer product outfits with devices people are lining up to buy.
So the tech rumor mill has it the deal between Cisco and Pure Digital is all but done, and Pure Digital CEO Jonathan Kaplan stands ready to take down $80 million for his efforts in guiding a company that started out making disposable cameras.
With these kinds of numbers, it stands to reason there’s probably a porn angle here, doesn’t it?
