The lines between software and telecom just got a tad blurrier today with a new Skype client from an instant messaging software company.
Shape Services of Stuttgart, Germany announced its release of IM+ for Skype on Blackberries and Symbian S60v3-equiped phones. The software will soon be available for Pocket PC, Palm, Symbian and Smartphone devices with an Internet connection, according to today’s press release.
What’s most interesting is how this further illustrates the vanishing distinction between software and telecommunications businesses. The four year-old company specializes in instant messaging software that supplies mobile phone access to half a dozen IM services through a single client.
